Rewind Trauma Therapy

Rewind Trauma Therapy

(for ages 4 years upwards, Teens and adults)

I was trained by Dr Muss, the founder of Rewind Trauma Therapy and I am listed on The International Association for Rewind Trauma Therapy (IARTT) website as an approved practitioner, having proven and met competencies in this field. My qualifications studied in Counselling underpin this additional training.

This is a brief therapy amounting to 1-4 sessions only, including two follow-ups.

Having the therapy is a comfortable and effective treatment for PTSD symptoms and Phobias. Children as young as four may be able to do Rewind providing, they are capable to follow instruction to complete the exercise.

Rewind can be used for single traumatic events or multiple traumas. It can work for traumatic experiences like:

When you have experienced or witnessed traumatic event/s, the trauma memories sit at the front of your brain and are triggered by thoughts, flashbacks, reminders of things you hear, things you see, things you smell.

IARTT explains “The Rewind offers a way of permanently stopping the involuntary recall by filing the traumatic event, so it comes under control. Voluntary recall remains”. Rewind can reduce or even remove traumatic or phobic symptoms quickly. The process uses a combination of guided imagery & relaxation, to reduce negative emotional & psychological symptoms.

The International Association for Rewind Trauma Therapy (IARTT) state ‘Closure without disclosure’ which means the client does not have to disclose details of the original traumatic incident/s to the therapist.

Who can we treat?
IARTT list the benefits of ‘Closure without disclosure’ to include:

When clients first come for an assessment appointment, they complete an IES rating score form which determines if they are suitable to do Rewind therapy. This is the starting score. On the day of the Rewind treatment, clients should be prepared to stay until we have managed to successfully complete the exercise fully. This may take a few goes, but don’t worry you won’t be traumatised over and over as you will be dissociating from the trauma. If anything, it gets easier the more you do it. I cannot let you go home until we have achieved this and there are various checks, I do to ensure we have got it right. If you feel happier you can bring another person with you providing, they sit quiet and still throughout the session as you will need to concentrate during the exercise. Or they can wait in the waiting room and have a coffee.

Two weeks after the Rewind treatment the client attends a follow-up and completes another IES form and this shows if there has been any improvement. The client usually can tell if they feel different within two weeks, but some feel it straight away, or days after. Some clients feel something has changed but are not sure what, until they go out into the world again and try out things the used to do.

My experience of using Rewind Therapy with clients is extremely positive.

Clients who came who have been living with distressing symptoms and phobias that have stopped or restricted them in doing things, or stopped them going to places, can suddenly do things and go out. Clients have reported their flashbacks have stopped, intrusive thoughts have reduced, they are able to go out to where you couldn’t before, are able to manage emotions better after bereavement for example, and sleep issues have resolved, and nightmares stopped. Clients then have been able to move on with and get on with their life.

I am so confident Rewind will work for you, I will offer a guarantee that if your symptoms return within the first three months or your score has risen above the threshold at the first or the second follow-up, I will give you another session of Rewind Therapy and follow-ups completely FREE.
